This term we will be learning about Maori language and culture.
Room 1 goes to Maori lessons every Thursday where we learn songs and language.

Maori Bread
We made Maori Bread. It was so delicious! We even shared some with Room 2 because it was so huge!
Here is the recipe we used:
Batter:
2 cups flour
2 Tbsp yeast
1 cup warm water
Dough:
8 cups flour
3 cups water
3 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
Mix batter ingredients. Leave batter to rise 10-20mins.
For dough add flour and make a well. Pour in batter and water, sugar and salt.
Mix and knead until the dough is springy. Leave to rise in large a buttered bowl until it doubles in size. Heat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Bake bread for about 1 hour or until hollow sounding when tapped.
MAUI AND THE SUN
We read Maui and the Sun and wrote about the story.
"Let me go. Let me go Maui." "I am sad" said the sun. "Then go slow Sun" said Maui. "Can't you see I'm almost dead" said the Sun. "Let him go" said Maui.
TP

LEADERSHIP
|
We watched news footage from when Sir Edmund Hillary reached the top of Mt Everest and discussed why he was such a good leader. We had some great ideas about what leadership qualities Sir Edmund Hillary had and why he was used to name Hillary House at our school. |
